1. For All Things

 

Ephesians 5:20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

2. Offered Through Christ

 

Romans 1:8 Let me say first that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith in him is being talked about all over the world.

 

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

 

3. Instances

 

a. Jacob - Genesis 32:10 I am not worthy of all the unfailing love and faithfulness you have shown to me, your servant. When I left home and crossed the Jordan River, I owned nothing except a walking stick. Now my household fills two large camps!

 

b. Samuel - 1 Samuel 7:12 Samuel then took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah.  He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the Lord has helped us!”

 

c. David - 2 Samuel 9:1 One day David asked, “Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive—anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

 

1 Chronicles 29:12-13 Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. 13 “O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!

 

d. Daniel's Daily Custom - Daniel 6:10 But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.

 

f. Jesus - Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.

4. For Power Over Sin

 

Romans 7:25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.

 

5. For Victory Over Death

 

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

6. The Heavenly Host

 

Revelation 7:12  They sang, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
