2009-07-26 Ken - Putting

Sunday July 26, 2009 – Rick opened talking about how God communicates with us through His word, his Apostles, our parents, the church, Ministers and even our friends.  How do we know the message we are hearing is from God?  The answer is that we have to study his word to know the truth.

He asked us all to pray for Ms. Lyndee who is home sick.  She wanted so much to be at this morning service but physically could not.  Keep her in your prayers.

He closed in prayer.

Ben blest us with a medley of songs; “Woke up this morning with my mind stayed on Jesus”, “I Came to Praise the Lord” and “I Love You Lord”  He encouraged the boys to get on fire for Jesus.  To become that match that starts a fire at Pegasus.

Our speaker this morning was Ken Moreland and his subject was “Putting”.  How becoming and continuing to be a good putter was like becoming and continuing to be a good Christian using this acronym:

P – Pathway - Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 (New Living Translation)

U – Unmovable - So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.  1 Corinthians 15:58 (New Living Translation)

T – Trustworthy - Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  2 This I declare about the Lord:  He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. Psalm 91:1-2 (New Living Translation)

T – Thankful - Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (New Living Translation)

E – Enthusiastic - Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Romans 12:11   (New Living Translation)

R – Relationship - Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Romans 12:9-10 (New Living Translation)

Ken closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
