2009-09-06 Rick - Abraham
Sunday,  Sept. 6, 2009 – Rick open telling the boys how glad he was to be there.  He realized that not everyone in the audience was there because they wanted to be and encouraged them to make the best of the situation.

Rick talked about Heb 11:6

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.  Hebrews 11:6 (New Living Translation)

All I want to do is tell you what God says so you can have a better life.  Listen, learn from His Word that you might become all that God wants you to.  Have faith in Him and you will receive his rewards.

Lyndee began with the boys reading from the Bible:

1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12 (New Living Translation)

12 Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance. 13 For example, there was God’s promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in his own name, saying:  14 “I will certainly bless you,  and I will multiply your descendants beyond number.”  15 Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised. Hebrews 6:12-15 (New Living Translation)

27 O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles?      O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?  28 Have you never heard?   Have you never understood?   The Lord is the everlasting God,  the Creator of all the earth.  He never grows weak or weary.   No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak  and strength to the powerless.  30 Even youths will become weak and tired,  and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:27-31 (New Living Translation)

Lyndee continue leading the boys in singing “Blessed Be the Name”.  She stopped for a moment to tell a wonderful story about how Pam and her husband were able to purchase the home of their dreams by a wonderful miracle from God.

Lyndee invited William to share his testimony.  He had received Christ as his savior that very week.  William talked about sharing with his mother his new life in Christ.

Lyndee led the boys in singing; “No, No You Never Let Go”,  “Lift My Eyes to Calvary”, “Amazing Grace” and “Take Me Home”.  She closed by reading an inspiring letter from a Pegasus graduate.

Ben shared about how he trusted the Holy Spirit to give him what he should say.  God can do in one moment what man may take years to accomplish.  He sang “Your Grace Amazes Me”, and talked about God directing us to be as wise as a serpent and gentle as a Dove.

Rick and Ken blest two boys who had successfully completed the Pegasus program, Spencer and Quinton.

Rick told the boys that they too could complete the Pegasus program.  He introduce some visitors and asked one, Ryan, to come and pray for the boys.  Rick continued thanking the Lord for the family visit that occurred last week and hoped the boys were blest by it.  He encouraged the boys to believe that God has a purpose and a plan for each one.  There would be struggles in finding that plan and path but the result is well worth the struggle.

Rick talked about the promises God made to Abraham.  How through him the nations of the earth would be blest.  That blessing being his descendent,  Jesus Christ!  God blest Abraham by first separating him from his friends and family and likewise God has separated the boys at Pegasus from friends and family and if they will accept and believe, God can bless them.

Rick talked about the miracle birth of Abraham and Sarah’s son, Isaac.  How he made Abraham the father of many nations.  How he instructed Abraham to walk blameless before him.  These promises were given to Abraham when he was 99!  If you will be faithful and walk blameless before him He will bless you.  He will use you to further His kingdom.  God always does what He promises in His way and His time.

Ken closed with the boys reciting the Lord’s Prayer.
