2009-12-06 CJ - Fatherhood of God

Sunday, December 6, 2009 It was a cold December morning but the attendance was not dampened.  Rick opened talking about Christmas and what it means to the believer.  His text was Matt. 1:18-23 … the birth of Jesus Christ, in particular, Joseph.  He referred to the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14.

Cindy led the music part of the worship opening with “He Knows My Name”, ”Open the Eyes of My Heart”, “Hear I Am to Worship”, “Yes, Lord”, “My Redeemer Lives”, and closed with “Amazing Grace”.

Ben was next blessing us singing “I Believe in a Hill Called Mt. Calvary”, “I Will Glory in the Cross”, and “In Christ Alone I Put My Trust”.

Our morning speaker was C.J. Solis.  His subject was the Fatherhood of God.  He talked about how God is always ready to listen.  About his father who was a gospel singer, how he grew up always going to church, how the sternness of his father was a blessing.  He asked the boys what kind of a father they wanted to be … like their father or like, God the Father.

He spoke of the responsibility of man versus woman using the creation story in Genesis as his text.  How as in the beginning it was the responsibility of man to lead his family.  Eve took the first bite but it was Adam who was in charge.  He could of corrected her instead of joining her.  It was his responsibility to obey his Father.  How someday that responsibility will fall upon each of you.  Now is the time to make right choices so someday you will become the man God wants you to be.  It is up to each of you.

We cannot blame God, women, our parents or our environment for the mess we have made of our lives.  It is our fault.  We were born in sin and we have chosen to become a slave to that sin.  Now is the time to make a change.  Now is the time to get free of sin.  Now is the time for your salvation.

Ken closed telling a story entitled “The Joy of Flushing”.
