2010-01-03 CJ - Obedience

Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010 – Rick opened wishing all the boys a happy new year.  He talked about new year’s resolutions and how he resolves everyday to live that day for Jesus Christ.  He spoke of James chapter 1:19 and how it can help one with the daily challenges they face as they live for Jesus.   “Every one should be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to become angry for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.  Therefore get rid of all moral filth and evil which is so prevalent and humbly accept the word that is planted in you and can save you.”

Cindy led the boys singing “I Exalt Thee”, “I Want to See You”, “Shout to the Lord” and “Yes, Lord”

Our morning speaker was C.J. Solis.  His subject was obedience.  He spoke of the goodness of family and how God intended for all of us to have a mother and a father to obey.  Of the fact that most of the boys were here because they failed to obey.  They messed up.  Thank God He loves messed up people.  God does not want a perfect people.  Do you go to a doctor when you’re feeling great … no!  You go because you are messed up and it is God who wants messed up people.  Jesus came to save that which was lost.

He spoke of his own messed up life and how he found God through Jesus Christ.  God met him at his level.  At the lowest point in his life he cried for help and God answered.  God wants this morning to work a miracle in your life and it starts with the reading of His word.  He challenged his audience to read that word and listen and obey.

C.J. read from Genesis 3:8,9.  “And they heard the voice of the Lord walking in the garden and Adam and Eve hid themselves from the Lord and the Lord God called unto Adam and said unto him; “Where art thou?”  Where are you this morning with your relationship with God?  He has been seeking you for a long time.  He is calling you this morning to give you new direction in your life for the way you have been going is not the right way.

God is calling you here in Pegasus this very morning.  He wants to give you a goal to turn your life around.  You cannot do it without Him.  The bible says we have all sinned and came short of the glory of God.  We are all sinners.  So no matter how much you work the program, no matter how good you think you are in God’s eyes you are a sinner in need of saving.  You may fool others but you cannot fool Him!

He closed saying that just as God had called Adam and Eve He was calling each of the boys today.  Listen, be obedient, read His word, live His word.  Obey Him!

Ken closed with an invitation for all of the boys who had asked Jesus Christ to be their savior to make that experience public.  One by one 18 young men came forward to confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The following is their testimonies:

1.  “Jesus Christ means the savior of my life. He saved my life.  He helped me through the bad times and the good times.  I accept Him as my savior.  He died on the cross for my sins and for my family’s sins as well.  I pray you all will find Him sooner or later.”

2.  (Cindy encouraging the boys to come forward) “Jesus is my Lord and my savior.  I love Him and He loves me.  The Word tells me that if I am ashamed of Him He is going to be ashamed of me, so why are you guys sitting there.  He loves you, He died for you, He gave everything He had for you.  He bled, He cried! What more guys could He have done for you?

3. “Jesus Christ is the person I fear the most and the person I love the most.  Everything I do I try to do it in His name.  Everything I do bad I try to ask Him for forgiveness and help through hard times  I don’t care who knows it and I do this until the day I die.”

4. “Jesus to me is like a father, a parent.  He gave me everything.  He gave me family.  I am thankful for everything He has given me.  He gave me so much that I don’t know what to give Him back.  I think I will give Him faith in Him and trust.  I will give him this life.”

5. “Jesus means to me my hope and love.  Hope that I can believe in the bible more, Hope I can change what I have done wrong.  Love for family and friends and Jesus Christ.”

6. “Jesus means to me that we would not be here if it was not for Him. We wouldn’t have a second chance.  We would not have the people that want to help us change our lives and have the faith to believe in Jesus Christ.”

7. “What Jesus means to me.  He died on the cross for us.  He gave us family and a second chance.”

8. “What Jesus Christ means is He died on the cross for us.  He is love.  Ever since I accepted Jesus Christ a few months ago He has made a big difference in my life.  I have seen what He could do in my life and He is the one thing I can rely on when no one else is there for me. Everyone can promise you everything but the one thing I know is if you accepted Jesus Christ He is going to make a big difference in your life.  He is good.”

9. “Jesus is my guide, my compass, my GPS, my direction.  He points me where I need to go.  He directs me where He wants me to go.”

10.  “What Jesus means to me is my freedom because if it was not for Him I would probably be somewhere else.  He gave me the opportunity to change my life.”

11. “Jesus Christ is the most important person in my life.  He is the one I have the most respect for.  And the way I am going to pay Him back is to be a better person and help other people.”

12. “What Jesus means to me is He always gives me second chances.  When I was at home I was always in trouble but when I came here I got a second chance.  It has been a good thing for me to accept God in my life.”

13. “Besides my Lord and Savior, Jesus is my best friend.  I say that because a true friend is someone that is there for you when you are not there for you.  I have always realized that.  Every time I start feeling sorry for myself or feeling really bad because of things that are not even my fault, suddenly Jesus reminds me that He is there for me even though I am not.”

14.  “ Jesus to me is a savior, He is hope and faith and love.  I have hope in Jesus because He is the only one who knows my future.  I started to believe in God a couple of months ago and ever since then my life has turned around.  Not great but better.  It will get better sooner of later.”

15. “What Jesus means to me is He gave me a second chance and my life is changing.  He gave me two grandmas.  I hope that when I am free I get to save others.”

16. “Jesus Christ is the Son of God. You need to put your trust in that.   He talks about the narrow and the wide road and we should always walk the narrow way.”

17. “What Jesus Christ means to me is know one can take that away from me. Even though I have a grandmother at home and lost two grandfathers, no one can take Him that away from me.”

18. “Jesus to me is the King of Kings, the Lord of all lords, the Son of God.  He is like my father.  He is always there when ever I need Him.  I tell you guys if you need Him just ask and He will come.”

19. “Jesus is to me my life, my Lord, my Savior, my God, my Holy Spirit.  He has given me a life to live.  Without Him I wouldn’t be here.  He has given me a lot of chances.  What you all need to do is get Him in your life.  I will be praying for you all.
