Palm Sunday

2010-04-11 Ken - Faith

April 11, 2010 – Rick opened encouraging the boys to let God work on them to give you peace.  He spoke of our purpose being to inspire the boys to let God help them to successfully complete the Pegasus program.

Cindy led the boys in singing “Holy is the Lord”, “Open the Eyes of My Heart”, “Forever”, “I can only Imagine” and “Trading my Sorrows”.

Before our main speaker, Ken Moreland, came to the platform, C.J. Solis said a few words.  CJ has a way of speaking to the boys in their language.  I can tell by their response that his words reach them.  He talked of life before Pegasus and why they ended up in this program, many coming from a life of little discipline or responsibility to the Pegasus program, which is grounded in discipline and accountability.

He spoke of the hard heartedness of all of us.  How God warns each of us about the road we are walking on and it is our stubbornness, our desire to do what we want and our failure to listen, that ends up getting us into a place we wish we were not.  Now you are here at Pegasus.   Maybe family circumstances were partly the blame but that was in the past.  You are being given a second chance.  Make the most of it.

Emotion swelled up in his voice as he spoke of the brevity of life and how so many are headed for destruction. He pleaded with the boys to realize their plight.  The beginning of a new life heading for success is Jesus Christ.  Do not reject him.  Make this the day you decide to start living for Him.

He closed leading the boys who wished to participate in an invitational prayer.

Our morning speaker was Ken Moreland.  His Subject was “Faith”.  He spoke of “The Heart”; “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”  Ken explained how the scripture use the word “Heart” to describe a whole person, body, soul and spirit.  It is the inner you.  We are all different, fingerprints, DNA, looks, voice, etc; but no matter how different we may be let me listen to you talk for a few moments and I will know what kind of a person you are.

If your heart is full of negative thoughts you will speak those thoughts.  Faith is a positive attribute and if your heart is full of faith you will speak positive thoughts.  Jesus talks about moving a mountain and He says you have to speak to the mountain to move it.  Faith is not static.  It is dynamic.  You can change your environment in a positive way if your heart is full of faith.

He asked the boys; "what is in your heart today".  Hopefully it is full of the love of God.  If so it will be apparent when you speak.

He closed leading the boys in the “Lord’s Prayer.”
