Sunday, May 30, 2010 – One of the boys had asked Rick to
pray that he would pass the polygraph test.
Although we can pray for each of the residents of Pegasus to be truthful
in everything they do and say and we can pray for strength from God to resist
temptation and we can encourage the boys to search the bible on a daily basis
to gain wisdom and guidance and learn to forgive others we cannot pray for a
boy to pass the polygraph! If you are
truthful, able to fight off temptation, full of God’s wisdom and forgiving of
others you will pass the polygraph. It
is up to you.
Cindy led the boys in singing “I’ll Fly Away”, “King of
Glory”, “Amazing Grace” and “Mighty to Save”.
We honored Joseph who has successfully completed the Pegasus
program and would be leaving in the following week.
Our morning speaker was C.J. Solis whose subject was “Follow
the Rules”. He spoke of the importance
in life of following the rules. How many
of the boys continually got PPL hours because they would not follow the
rules? It is like the person who gets a
speeding ticket. They have all kinds of
excuses for why they got that ticket, the last being they were speeding. You repeatedly break the rules here at
Pegasus and think that everyone is out to get you when the only one messing up
your life is you.
C.J’s text for this mornings message was; Isaiah 55:6-9 6 Seek the Lord while you can find
him. Call on him now while he is near. 7 Let the wicked
change their ways and banish the very thought of doing
wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy
on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.
8 “My thoughts
are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways
are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens
are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and
my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
10 “The rain and
snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the
earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for
the farmer and bread for the hungry.
11 It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it
always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
Here are the rules to follow; seek the Lord, call on Him,
change your ways, think correctly. Stop
thinking your ways are the best. Look
what got you here. God’s ways are so
much higher than yours so why not make a change today and start following His
ways, His rules.
Every day you are here at Pegasus you are fighting. You are fighting the staff, you are fighting
the rules but most of all you are fighting God.
You know the rules. Do you really
want to go home? Do you want to leave
here a different person than when you arrived?
If you answer is in the affirmative then follow the rules.
God’s heart is broken because you are so hard headed and
unwilling to listen. You think you know
it all and in reality you know nothing.
His mercy endures because He is waiting for you to change your
ways. This morning I plead with you to
realize His ways are so far above yours so stop doing it your way and start
doing it His way.
Ken closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
